Murder Suspect Makes Appearance in Lubbock Court

The man accused of murdering Texas Tech library dean Douglas Birdsall and 18 year-old Viola Ross-McVade was in court on Thursday. As NewsChannel 11 told you on Monday night in NewsChannel 11's Whatever Happened To?, 31 year-old Vaughn Ross will be tried on capital murder charges next month.

At a pre-trial hearing Thursday afternoon, Ross' attorney Floyd Holder requested that he and his client be allowed to visit the scene of the crime before the trial to discuss the case. District Court Judge Cecil Puriyear denied that request. The trial is set to begin August 5th.
