On Thursday, the Texas Rangers put lefthanded pitcher John Rocker on the 15 day DL, retroactive to July 4th. Rocker has bursitis in his left shoulder. Rocker's roster spot will be taken by outfielder Rusty Greer, who was activated from the 15 day disabled list.
The move was made after Rocker attempted to throw in the bullpen on Thursday afternoon in Minnesota. Rocker hasn't pitched since July 3rd due to the shoulder trouble. It's the first time Rocker has been on the DL in his major league career.
