An accused murderer out of Floyd County is behind bars. Authorities say 26-year-old Daniel Herrera turned himself in Tuesday night, one day after NewsChannel 11's Most Wanted profiled the case.
Herrera is charged with murder for the shooting death of 27-year-old Israel Martinez. He is also charged with attempted murder for shooting 39-year-old Serapio Ovaelle Junior early Saturday morning.
Floydada Police tell NewsChannel 11's Most Wanted that Herrera turned himself in around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Chief Darrell Gooch says Herrera walked up to the dispatcher at the Floyd County Sheriff's Office and told them he wanted to turn himself in.
Herrera told authorities he wasn't running. He says he went to Abilene and Odessa to tie up some business and see family. Gooch says Herrera is being cooperative; He is being held in the Hale County Jail.
