New Fire Station Approved for Central Lubbock

A central Lubbock neighborhood will soon be getting a new fire station.

Thursday, Lubbock City Council members approved the construction of a fire station at 63rd and Indiana. The new station will improve firefighter response time, and could eventually save the city on costs and nearby homeowners on insurance.

The contract for the station is expected to cost $1.6 million.
