Bond Lowered For Former NewsChannel 11 Most Wanted Suspect

Posted:

NewsChannel 11 continues to follow the case of a man that made NewsChannel 11's Most Wanted list.

Jon Ray Rodriguez was in a Lubbock courtroom Thursday for a bond reduction hearing. Judge Cecil Puryear reduced Rodriguez's bond for tampering with evidence by $250,000. Now that bond is $300,000.

Police say 29-year-old Jon Ray Rodriguez beat and nearly choked his former girlfriend to death back in February, and then held her against her will. Rodriguez then bonded out of jail. Later, investigators determined he faked the evidence that caused a judge to lower his bond amount.

Authorities filed additional charges, and Rodriguez surrendered to Oklahoma authorities in May. However, he was later released by a judge. Rodriguez was rearrested a few days later at his mother's Oklahoma residence. He is also accused of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.
