Police Alert Lubbock About Rapist

A terrifying ordeal for two Lubbock women has police warning everyone to be on alert. Investigators are working to identify the person that, on two different occasions, pulled a taser gun on his victim and tried to rape them.

"Everyone just needs to be a little bit more on guard, be a little bit more aware of your surroundings, and if you see anything suspicious get to a safe place and call us," said Jon Caspell of the Lubbock Police Department.

"On the third of July, Lubbock police responded to a report of a rape at Joyland Amusement Park about 2:30 in the morning. The victim reported that the suspect gave her a ride home. He obviously did not drive her home, he drove her to the Joyland Amusement Park where he tried to subdue her with a taser, a stun gun," said Caspell.

She escaped and reported the incident to the police. A week later the police responded to a similar report.  This time, the victim was forcefully taken from the Town and Country on 19th at about 8:15 p.m. The suspect then handcuffed her and took her to 19th and Compress. Once again, the suspect used a taser to subdue the woman and tried to sexually assault her. This victim also got away.

Police think the two cases are linked. "There are enough similarities in these cases, on the initial investigation. We do believe they are related at this time," Caspell said,

Police are searching for a Hispanic male with black hair and blue eyes.  The suspect stands about 6'0" and weighs about 200 pounds.  The suspect is known to drive a white SUV, possibly a Chevy Tahoe or Suburban.

If you can help police identify the culprit, or if you know anything about these attacks, you're urged to call Crime Line at (806) 741-1000.
