Playing a rare Friday Night game, the Lubbock Renegades lost in their regular season finale 60-54 to Austin in overtime. The loss drops Lubbock to 8-6 and they fail to clinch a playoff spot.
With both teams getting the ball once to start overtime, trailing 54-47, Robert Kent used his legs to get in for the td and tie it at 54. The rules then go to sudden death and whoever scored next would win. Austin got the ball and Andy Hall threw a TD pass to Mel Long to send the City Bank Coliseum crowd home disappointed.
Lubbock next plays Monday July 21st visiting Amarillo. They can still make the playoffs but will not host a postseason game.
