A deadly, rollover accident in Yoakum County took the life of an Andrews teenager Saturday morning. DPS Investigators tell NewsChannel 11 that 18-year-old Leslie Jimenez died around 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Yoakum County Hospital in Denver City.
Troopers say Jimenez was riding in a pick-up with three other people around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, when the driver hit a bar ditch, over-corrected, and rolled the pick-up two times. The truck came to rest seven miles north of Plains on Texas Highway 214. Investigators say Jimenez was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver, 18-year-old Edgar Lujan suffered cuts and bruises. He was in stable condition at Yoakum County Hospital Saturday afternoon, as was 18-year-old Fillimon Lujan. A third passenger, 18-year-old Rieanna Mares was recovering at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock after suffering a broken collar bone and leg fracture. Troopers say all four were students in Andrews.
