Spurs Re-Sign Bowen

Starting forward Bruce Bowen has re-signed with the San Antonio Spurs. That's what the team announced on Tuesday. Contract terms were not released.

Bowen is a defensive specialist who averaged 7.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in 59 games last season. The 6' 7" Bowen was named to the league's All-Defensive Second Team for the second straight year.

He first signed with the Spurs as a free agent in July 2001 for the minimum salary of $716,000. He previously played for Miami, Philadelphia, and Boston. With the signing, San Antonio now has all of its starting five -- Bruce Bowen, Tim Duncan, David Robinson, Steve Smith, and Tony Parker -- from last season's 58 - 24 team under contract for 2002 - 2003.
