The NHL could announce the host of the 2006 All-Star Game as early as October, and the Dallas Stars are hoping they're it. League officials tell The Dallas Morning News that the Stars are among nine teams bidding to get one of the four All-Star Games between 2004 and 2007.
Frank Supovitz is the NHL's group vice president for events and entertainment. He says the league could begin announcing the winning bids in staggered fashion over the next four to six months. That means the 2004 winner could be announced in August, the 2005 winner in September, and the 2006 winner in October. The Stars have targeted 2006, but they would also accept 2007.
