A three year old murder case gains new momentum. At around 5:00 Tuesday afternoon, police arrested 41-year-old Kenneth Warwick, in connection with a 1999 murder.
Police arrested Kenneth Warwick for the murder of Paul Tolonen. Warwick was apprehended in an alley in the 2400 block of 14th Street. After a night full of questioning he was booked in the Lubbock County Jail, awaiting arraignment Wednesday morning.
On June 4, 1999 tree trimmers at Mackenzie Park on east Broadway came across a dead body, it was the body of 31-year-old Paul Tolonen. Tolonen had been reported missing weeks before his body was found. Police say Tolonen had been stabbed multiple times, stab wounds that the Medical Examiner said caused his death.
Sergeant John Gomez with the Lubbock Police department said statements developed by witnesses led to the arrest of Warwick. Warwick is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. in Judge Blackburn's court, his recommended bond is $250,000.
NewsChannel 11 spoke with a member of Tolonen's family who said the family is relieved a suspect is finally in custody. Most of Tolonen's immediate family is out of town this week. It was a planned trip to Lake Superior, where they will spread his ashes.
