Authorities arrested a man accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of product from a Lubbock County chemical company.
32-year-old Troy Brandon Fillingam is in the Lynn County Jail, facing two counts of felony theft. NewsChannel 11 cameras were on the scene just moments after sheriff's deputies from Lynn and Lubbock counties and Texas Rangers took Fillingam into custody. As you may remember- investigators say someone stole 2,000 gallons of weed killer and pesticide from Helena Chemical Company less than two weeks ago.
Wednesday morning, officers found Fillingam at a home in Northern Lynn County. Investigators say Fillingam tried to sell the stolen chemicals to a person at a home where he was arrested.
"He was under surveillance at the time, and the officers believe he was trying to make a transaction of where he was going to be selling that product. That's when they intervened and affected an arrest," Major Don Carter said.
Carter says officers recovered around 1400 gallons of round up and 57 containers of insecticide along with a stolen trailer from Terry County.
Carter adds Fillingam may also face burglary charges in Lubbock County. At this time, deputies are still investigating.
