A Lubbock City Councilwoman wants to help make her district a little more peaceful for its residents.
Wednesday morning neighbors of Guadalupe Park gathered at the train tracks north of 4th Street and Avenue P to participate in the demonstration of a more pleasant train horn.
Councilwoman Linda DeLeon organized the demonstration after receiving noise complaints from neighbors.
While normal train horns reach an area of about 36 acres, the Wayside Horn penetrates about one acre, aiming down the railroad crossing. The new horn would cost $75,000 - $90,000.
The issue will now be taken before city council to discuss funding.
