A 35-year-old Lubbock man is in the county jail, accused of raping a 12-year-old girl. Lubbock Police responded to a home in the 2900 Block of Baylor Street around 4 p.m. Thursday. They tell NewsChannel 11 the victim was home alone, when a man walked in and attacked her.
Authorities arrested 35-year-old Francisco Rodriguez a short time later. Police tell us he was at a nearby home.
"How well he was known to the victim we're not real sure; we don't at all think he was very well known to her, but she did know who the suspect was and was able to identify him very quickly. What we're understanding right now is that he was in the neighborhood visiting there," Lubbock Police Captain Greg Stevens said.
Rodriguez was held on a first degree burglary charge Thursday evening, but Captain Stevens says a charge of aggravated sexual assault will most likely follow. NewsChannel 11 is still gathering details on this story. We'll bring you the latest developments tonight on NewsChannel 11 at Ten.
