City Council member Linda DeLeon is asking Lubbock citizens why one proposed site for a new animal shelter is in the middle of a neighborhood. The City Councilwoman is asking citizens in the Clapp Park area that are opposed to an animal shelter in their neighborhood to attend a meeting with her Monday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Garden & Arts Center, located at 44 th Street & University Avenue.
Councilwoman DeLeon says, "I have found that many citizens are unaware of this particular idea and I want to inform residents and encourage community discussion about an animal shelter. I do not believe people living near Clapp Park would want an animal shelter in their backyard."
