The Governor held a town hall meeting in Lubbock on Wednesday with area farmers. Perry talked about the Trans Texas Corridor Transportation plan. He says it will tap into new water sources and help get Texas products to market.
Local farmers say they agree with the governor, but they would like to see Texas step up and help its farmers first. "The best thing we could do in my estimation would be to shut the borders down and buy our products first here at home, and from USA producers. We need to buy America first and think about our own needs," said W.I.F.E. Member, Barbara White.
Senator Robert Duncan and Texas Agriculture Commissioner Susan Combs also attended the town hall meeting.
