Police arrested two people Thursday who they believe were involved in several home burglaries in Lubbock. Ann Marie Martinez and Steven Pena are both charged with multiple counts of burglary Friday.

Imagine coming home and finding everything in your house gone. When describing several burglaries Captain Greg Stevens of the Lubbock Police Department said, "there was furniture, electronic goods, laptop computers, some appliances - I mean just everything you could imagine. In a couple of the burglaries at least, the houses were literally cleaned out. So just look around your house and imagine the value of everything in your house and that's what we're talking about times three, four, maybe five. So the monetary value was quite substantial."

Earlier this month someone tipped off police that several potentially stolen items were sold from a house on 15th Street. Police investigated, obtained a search warrant, and arrested the suspects for multiple counts of burglary. They recovered quite a bit. "All in all, we recovered well over 150 items of stolen property that had been taken from at least 4 to 5 burglaries or thefts," said Stevens.

It took two trailers and three pick-up loads to transport all of the stolen items. It isn't often police make a recovery like this said Stevens, "extremely rare. I'd say less than three to four percent are ever actually recovered."

Law enforcement already returned many of the stolen items to their owners. They suspect other people were involved in the burglaries, so there may be more arrests connected to this investigation.

If convicted, the two arrested in this case face two to 20 years and up to a $10,000 fine for each account of burglary they're charged with.
