Council Says Tax Rate Will Stay the Same, Lower

Lubbock City Council members say they don't expect to raise your tax rate. NewsChannel 11 is told the Council will set the city's preliminary tax rate Tuesday to be the same as last year.

And depending on final property appraisals, we're told the rate could possibly be lowered. The estimated value of the average Lubbock home went up 7.9 percent, and that could have you paying more in taxes. Even if the tax rate stays the same.

The City Council is also set to discuss changing the name of Yucca Lane to Lubbock Business Park Boulevard. We'll be at Tuesday meeting and bring you the latest.
