Pedestrian Hit by SUV, Dies From Complications - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

A follow-up to a story, NewsChannel 11 first brought you last week. A pedestrian who was hit by a car on South Loop 289 has died.

Officials at University Medical Center say 28-year-old Lester Newman died Monday of complications from surgery. 

Police say Newman was running across the access road at South Loop 289 and Quaker around 2:40 a.m. last Thursday when he was struck by an SUV. Newman was taken to UMC.

It is illegal for pedestrians to cross the loop anywhere but at a controlled intersection.
