Standoff Ends Peacefully in Wolfforth

Wolfforth Police, Department of Public Safety, and the Lubbock County Sheriff's Department responded to a call around seven o'clock. Lt. Cody Scott of the Lubbock County Sheriff's Department said the man, was despondent over family matters.

At times, the man was visible outside his home while carrying a gun, but would not surrender to law enforcement officials. Just before 10:00 officers managed to negotiate a surrender. 62-year-old "Dub" Hays stepped out of his home without his gun, however failed to comply with instructions. Officers fired pepper-ball guns to assist in taking Hays into custody.

No one was hurt in the incident.
