"Fish Pedicure" a New Trend in Foot Care

To get rid of the dead skin and calluses on their feet, some people in Virginia are turning to a strange new pedicure - a fish pedicure.  It is performed by "doctor fish", the nickname for the Garra Rufa fish.

Salon manager, Julie Nguyen, says, "Doctor fish what they do is nibble on your dead skin around your feet and give you very good, relax."  And Shannon Otto, a pedicure client, adds, "It was a little ticklish at first because it feels like there are like little suction cups on your foot, but it was really nice after it got going."

The treatment is offered at Yvonne's Nail Salon in Alexandria.  Each pedicure tank holds 100 doctor fish.  The fish have no teeth, so they do not bite - they just make a meal out of your feet by feeding off the dead flaky skin.
