Lubbock County Investigating Death of 45-year-old Man

Lubbock County investigators continue to question people who may have information about what killed a 45-year-old man.

The Sheriff's Office says Able Lucero and many others were watching horse races Saturday evening at the former Lubbock Downs race track off 114th Street and Highway 87 when a large group got into a fight.

That's when they say Lucero either fell off or was knocked off a horse.

Investigators say Lucero suffered a severe blow to the head that was consistent with a rock.

Aerocare rushed him to University Medical Center. He died Tuesday night.

Detectives are now piecing together witness statements to determine if anyone is criminally responsible.
