As temperatures reach the century mark for the second day, LP&L expects to see the highest electric consumption in the utility's history. On Thursday LP&L customers used 315 megawatts, and the last time they used that much energy was in September of 2000.
If this current trend continues, the electric company will set a new record. But, there are ways you can help conserve some of that energy.
- Use curtains or shades to block sunlight coming into your home.
- Close your windows when the air conditioner is on.
