Governor Appoints Plainview Man to Nursing Facility Administrators Advisory Committee

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed a South Plains area man to the Nursing Facility Administrators Advisory Committee, who advises the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services on licensing and regulation of nursing facility administrators.

Michael James Keller of Plainview is program director and assistant professor of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Clinical Services Management Program. He is a former appointee to the Texas Home and Community Services Advisory Council and member of the Texas Hospital Association and American College of Healthcare Executives. He is a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve and recipient of a Bronze Star. Keller received a bachelor's degree from West Texas A&M University in nursing, and a master's degree in healthcare administration from Wayland University. He replaces Mary E. Carroll of Lockhart.

Keller's term will expire on February 1, 2013.

    Lubbock Police are searching for the suspect of a fatal shooting in central Lubbock. Police responded to the 1600 block of 23rd Street around 12:15 Friday morning for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found two victims in the 1500 block who were shot. One victim was taken to UMC with serious injuries. That person was pronounced dead.
