Did Former New Deal Police Chief Perjure Himself?

Posted:

Testimony began Monday afternoon, in the trial of a former New Deal Police Chief. Jury members will have to decide whether Sam Butler lied under oath about an accident from April of 2005.

Butler claims he followed a suspected drug dealer to Lubbock from New Deal, when he got into an accident at 50th and Boston. If that's true, Butler would be covered under New Deal's insurance policy, but there is a question of whether Butler was actually on duty, or if he was in Lubbock filling a prescription.

The trial continues Tuesday.
