Lubbock Area Shoppers Get Ready

As many families prepare their kids for back-to-school, Texas continues to offer a once in a year opportunity for the year's best shopping. This is the fourth year for the tax-free holiday and it begins this Friday at midnight.

Retailers will not collect tax on most clothes and shoes that sell less than $100. But, tax will be collected on jewelry, handbags, luggage, umbrellas, wallets, watches, and similar items. The mall will extend their hours throughout the weekend. On Friday and Saturday, the mall will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
