A Lubbock man is behind bars Tuesday, after police say he nearly hit a police officer overnight. Nathan Shields, 21, is in the Lubbock County Jail, charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer, evading arrest, deadly conduct, and DWI.

Police responded to Raider's Pass Apartments just after midnight on a burglary call, where they arrested three juveniles. During the incident, officers say Shields sped through the area, forcing one officer to jump out of the way. They say Shields narrowly missed hitting the officer's car, which had one of the juveniles inside.

Officers chased the vehicle to the Holiday Mobile Home Park, and arrested Shields.
