Dr. Mark McLanahan practiced in Muleshoe for 15 years and moved to Brownfield a year ago. He says, "I wouldn't practice anywhere else but a rural area. I feel that a calling for most family doctors should be in smaller areas and thinking it's a chance to address the whole family. I really enjoy going from one room and treating a child and to the next room and treating a grandmother. And you have the opportunity to treat people from the cradle to the grandmother and you have the opportunity to treat people from the cradle to the grave. And you have the opportunity to deliver babies and take care of those and if your lucky you'll be able to deliver those babies' babies. It's a nice thing you can be yourself. If your style is you feel comfortable in boots and jeans you can be that person in the country will judge you by your deeds and not what you wear but being a country doc, I wouldn't trade in my boots for a three piece suit."
