When the Summer Olympics start on Friday, there will be several former Red Raiders competing in the games, including 3 former Tech track stars, all who still hold school records. While none are competing on Team USA, folks in Lubbock no doubt will be rooting for them.
Three former Red Raiders will be headed to the Beijing Olympics for the Bahamian and Jamaican Olympic teams. Mike Mathieu, Andrae Williams will be on the Bahamian squad and Shereefa Lloyd will be competing for Jamaica.
Mathieu, a four-time All-American while at Tech, will be apart of the 4x40M relay team as well former Red Raider teammate Andrae Williams. Mathieu and Williams are school record holders of both the indoor and outdoor 4x400M relays. Mathieu will also run the 400M in Beijing.
Lloyd will be apart of the Jamaican 4x400M relay team. She was an All-American in the 400M while at Tech and owns the school record in the 400M.
