Food for Thought Report 8.7 - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

Two stops at the top of this week's Food for Thought list.

Chips Sports Bar and Grill at 5164 69th and Taco Bell/Pizza Hut at 5111 82nd Street scored perfect on their latest health inspection making them both repeat top performers.

Now to our low performers of the week.  Inspectors cited O'Hana Steak & Sushi at 5510 4th Street with 10 critical violations.

The owner of O'Hanas invited our cameras inside the kitchen to explain their violations.

• Cold food items in a cooling unit were not 41 degrees or below.
• The internal temperature of a whole chicken was not at least 165 degrees.
• A wiping cloth was on the edge of a sink.
• Raw chicken was on the shelf above produce in a cooler.
• Cooked eel in the sushi area did not have an expiration date.
• There were no towels at a hand sink.
• The report states the restaurant no longer employees their certified food manager.
• There was no food thermometer available.
• Several food contact items were dirty or broken.
• There was no consumer advisory posted for the public to see about the consumption of undercooked foods.
