Sales Tax Holiday This Weekend

Some state legislators were in Houston Monday to remind everyone that another Sales Tax Holiday is upon us.

State Senator Rodney Ellis, who authored and helped pass the original back to school sales tax holiday in 1999, was on hand for Monday's event. "This weekend gives a chance to give working class Texans some relief, and I would encourage more to come out," Senator Ellis said.

This year's Sales Tax Holiday will run from this Friday through Sunday. Tax Free items include: backpacks, gym suits, socks and other back to school essentials. Since 1999, Texans have saved a little more than $388-million. Just last year, Texans saved $52-million.

A complete list of tax free items can be found on the Comptroller's Website by clicking here.
