American Airlines is going pink. In Fort Worth Monday, the airline unveiled two planes with pink ribbons streaming the full length of the fuselage to honor its new partnership with the group 'Susan G. Komen for the Cure'. In all, eight planes will be adorned with pink ribbons to signify that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
The partnership includes a $7.5 million pledge from the airline to research inflammatory breast cancer- a rare, aggressive, and often fatal form of the disease. American Airlines has pledged to raise $1 million each year for eight years to fund the grant. Most of the money will be raised at celebrity golf and tennis tournaments.
American Airlines also offers a program that rewards members for contributions to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
