City Attorney Anita Burgess Resigns

Lubbock will soon be in the market for a new city attorney.

NewsChannel 11 first told you Tuesday night that Anita Burgess has verbally announced her resignation. She did so during the city council's executive session Tuesday.

There is still no official word from city hall but we have confirmed Burgess is leaving to take the city attorney job in Denton.

Her official written resignation will come next Tuesday, when Denton's City Council is set to approve the decision.
