Gas Line Breaks Causing Evacuation

Around 9:30 Monday morning a heavy piece of city machinery broke through a gas line near Martin Luther King Boulevard and 66th Street. It caused an eight inch gash in the pipe. Employees at A.M. Radio Station 580 were evacuated for a short time when the break occurred. The gas had to be shut off to the area for most of the day while workers repaired the line. Parts of MLK and 66th Street were closed, but have since been reopened.
