Lubbock Solider Returns from 6th Iraqi Deployment

A South Plains family has one more member home - a son returning from his sixth deployment in Iraq.

U.S. Marine Sergeant Matthew Rodriguez returned to Lubbock Thursday after serving seven months in Iraq.

He was greeted at the airport by his parents, siblings and other well wishers, "It's what makes us do what we do. The gratification and people come up to us and express their warmth for us. I wouldn't change anything. It's people like that keep us going," Sgt. Matthew Rodriguez said.

Having a son sent to a war zone is nothing new for the Rodriguez family, Matthew has been six times and so has his twin brother, Mark.

Matthew will be on leave for about a month before returning to his base in California.
