An Arizona mother held her twins for the first time Friday after delivering them by caesarean section Wednesday in Phoenix. The twins were born conjoined- connected at the abdomen and sharing a liver.
Ashley Frank, the mother of the conjoined twins, says she is, "...just taking it step by step, so separation really hadn't come up for us and when it does then I will think about it. But right now I'm just making sure that they stay breathing on their own".
Ashley says she does not know the sex of her babies yet because of how they are joined. Doctors say that, aside from being conjoined, they are healthy and weigh 8 lbs. 10 oz. together. It will be at least three months before they can even consider separating the babies.
