A well known Lubbock coach faces sexual assault charges.

Friday morning Richard Romero, better known as Ricky, was charged with sexual assault of a child. The Texas Department of Public Safety says, while at a basketball tournament in Houston, Romero sexually assaulted a 16-year-old player on his team.

Romero is also charged with possession of child pornography. The 47-year-old turned himself into the Burnet County Jail on July 28 after an arrest warrant was issued. Romero made a $150,000 bond the same day.

Authorities searched Romero's Lubbock apartment for cell phones, computers and storage devices. Police in Marble Falls say he was there for the summer, coaching kid's summer league basketball. The Texas Rangers are working with local police on this investigation.

Romero once owned the Lubbock Hawks, a professional women's basketball team that folded after a year.
