Covenant Health System is teaming up with Lubbock ISD to kick off an innovative campaign. It's called Operation Clean Hands. The idea is if kids can have fun learning at school that clean hands prevent the spread of germs, they'll take that lesson home and spread it to their families.
"Multi-drug resistant organisms are producing faster than we can provide the treatment to them. So we hope if we can prevent some of these infections from coming in the first place, our kiddos will stay healthy longer", says Nicole Heinz, an infection disease clinical nurse specialist at Covenant.
Operation Clean Hands means 2800 Purel hand dispensers will be placed in classes throughout all levels of LISD. Regular hand-washing is the number one way to prevent the spread of infection.
