Governor & First Lady Coming to Lubbock for Dedication - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

It ranks among the top nursing schools in the nation; it is also the only ranked nursing school in the West Texas region, and come Thursday the Texas Tech School of Nursing will boast the name of Texas' First Lady Anita Thigpen Perry.

Governor Rick Perry and the First Lady will be in Lubbock for the dedication ceremony. Health Sciences Center President Dr. John Baldwin says the new name will bring additional recognition to the school.

Mrs. Perry spent 17-years working in the health care field, and since becoming the state's First Lady she has encouraged young Texans to aid in the critical nursing shortage.
