Lubbock Police and Homicide detectives are investigating a body found Wednesday morning in northeast Lubbock.
The body was found just after 9:00 a.m., in a remote area near North MLK and Bradley near an oil pump jack.
Police do not yet know who the victim is, but they believe it is a woman. Her race and age are difficult to determine, reportedly due to the rate of decomposition. However, police say there are signs of blunt force trauma.
Their efforts are hampered further, by the muddy conditions in the area. Officers are awaiting all terrain vehicles, so teams can get closer to the body.
