More on the Woman Found Dead in Northeast Lubbock

Lubbock police are investigating the city's sixth homicide of the year, and now they're asking for your help. 29-year-old Monica Isabel Adams was found dead this morning in a field near north MLK and Bradley.  Right now there are no suspects in her death, but police hope someone will come forward with information to help solve this case.

Adams was known to stay at the Sunset Motel off of the Clovis Highway.  Hotel owner John Joshi says she has stayed there on and off for the last couple of weeks with her boyfriend.  Joshi said he has seen Adams' boyfriend be abusive towards her.

"What they do is their business, but when somebody lays hands on a woman... nu huh," said Joshi.

He tried to help her as much as he could.

"She said hey John, he beat me up, he beat me up, and I said I'm sorry, and I said just come stand over in here in this corner, and I will call the law and let them tell you what to do," said Joshi.

He said he had to kick both of them out last week, because they were not paying for their room.  Joshi said Adams was a nice person, but was known to be involved in prostitution.

"She was a very good person to be honest with you.  She was very friendly and she was very nice.  Let me tell you one thing.  Nobody wants to go into prostitution by choice," said Joshi.

Her body was found Wednesday morning in this field near north Martin Luther King Blvd and Bradley Street.  Police say she suffered blunt force trauma.  Police don't know how many days Adams' body was in the field, but she could have been there since the heavy rainfall this past weekend.

"Rainfall can make it more difficult.   It tends to wash away what can be some pretty vital evidence, but it certainly doesn't make it impossible.   Scenes like this tend to be pretty involved," said Lt. Jon Caspell with the Lubbock Police Department.

Police have not named any suspects in this homicide, but if you have any information in this case, you are asked to call Crime Line at 741-1000.
