Increase in Measles Worries CDC

More cases of measles have been reported in 2008 than any other year since 1996. Since January, there have been 131 cases of measles reported to the CDC, and at least 15 of those were hospitalized.

Researchers say we cannot blame the increase on people bringing measles into this country after traveling outside the U.S.   Instead, they say we are seeing more measles in children whose parents have chosen not to have them immunized.

The CDC says that is a huge concern because an increase in measles could lead to large scale outbreaks.
