Two Dead, One Critical After Three Separate Accidents Over the Weekend.

The Department of Public Safety says 52 year-old Cynthia Blessen, of Levelland, was east on FM 1294 near Fisher Road in Hockley County just before 6:15 p.m. Saturday.

Troopers say Blessen lost control of her car as the road curved, over-corrected, went into a skid and then struck a utility pole on the passenger side. The force flipped the car onto its roof. Blessen died at the scene.

Troopers say she was wearing a seat belt and alcohol was not a factor in the accident. Family members tell DPS that Blessen was on her way to sing with a gospel group in Lubbock.

A weekend of festivities at the South Plains Fairgrounds takes a tragic turn.

Police say 31 year-old Travis Walker Gerron was riding a 1972 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he struck a gate as he was leaving the fairgrounds just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday. He died at University Medical Center.

The Giant Side of Texas Motorcycle Rally took place at the fairgrounds this weekend. It is unknown if Gerron was involved with the rally.

Two teens were injured in an accident in 6300 Block of East Loop 289.

Police say 18 year-old Garrett Quade Wiley's pickup collided with another vehicle around 5 a.m. Sunday. Wiley's pickup then hit a guardrail and went airborne. Wiely was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the truck.

Aerocare flew him to UMC where he remains in critical condition.

EMS took his passenger 18 year-old Donnel Dickerson to UMC with moderate injuries.
