Now your fingerprints can reveal more than just your identity. Scientists at Purdue University have developed a new way to read a fingerprint's chemical signature. Meaning that because of new technology, your fingerprint can actually reveal small amounts of stuff that you have touched recently including explosives or drugs.
Researchers say this will have a huge impact on forensic science. Since the compounds in each fingerprint are unique, this same technology allows investigators to uncover a specific fingerprint that was previously hidden under many layers of other fingerprints.
