Of the seven Curry County, New Mexico escaped inmates two have been caught leaving five on the street - two of whom were being held for murder.

Police say eight inmates on Sunday night climbed the pipes behind a wall at the Curry County Adult Detention Center in Clovis, New Mexico. They cut a hole in the roof, and climbed down a nearby tree. Officers captured one inmate, Victor Apodaca, a short time later in Clovis.

The seven escapees are:

  • Victor Sotelo, 26
  • Larry McClendon, 19
  • Javier Zapata, 19
  • Raynaldo Enriquez, 19
  • Michael England, 29
  • Edward Salas, 21
  • Louis Chavez, 18

Of these men two have been captured - Javier Zapata in Cactus, TX and Raynaldo Enriquez right here in Lubbock. Both were caught Tuesday night.

Tuesday morning Reynaldo Enriquez, the man caught here in Lubbock, waived extradition in Lubbock County, so he is either on his way back to Clovis, or soon will be, to face the courts there for his escape.

It's also important to note Larry McClendon has pending murder charges and Edward Salas has been convicted of murder.

Remember, there are still five escapees on the loose and each of these men is still considered dangerous. If you see any of these suspects you are urged by authorities not to make contact with them and simply call 911.

Curry County Matt Chandler says they believe some, if not all, of the escapees still on the loose are in West Texas and specifically the Lubbock area.
