According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the government has recalled a baby bassinet that has claimed the lives of two children. If you have a "Close-Sleeper Bedside Sleeper" bassinet made by Simplicity in your house stop using the product immediately. Two infants died when they apparently slipped through the metal sidebars and strangled themselves. The government says the bars are spaced farther apart then federal standards allow.
Simplicity was purchased by SFCA, Incorporated at public auction this April, but the new company has refused to cooperate with the government and recall the product.
SFCA maintains that it is not responsible for products made by the former Simplicity Company.
The CPSC is asking parents to share this information with others and with their daycare facility.
