Two senior campaign officials confirm that John McCain has chosen Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate.
Palin, who's 44, is a self-styled "hockey mom" and political reformer.
The announcement is scheduled at midday in Dayton, Ohio. Palin is a first-term governor credited with reforms of her out-of-the-way state.
Earlier, an associate of Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty said Pawlenty had been informed he's not McCain's pick. Associates close to former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney were saying the same thing.
