Try Another Butter for Peanut Allergies

Posted:

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches have been a staple in school lunches, but some schools have banned them because of peanut allergy concerns.  Experts at U.T. Southwestern Medical Center say that trying a different butter can be a nutritious alternative.

Almond butter is high in protein and is a great source of potassium and, as an added bonus, almonds have been shown to help reduce the risk of heart disease.  Soy nut butter is another option.  It generally has about as much fiber as peanut butter, making it a good alternative.
