South Lubbock County Accident Kills Cooper High School Student

NewsChannel 11 is on the scene of a two vehicle accident near 158th Street and Indiana. It happened shortly before 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Corporal John Gonzalez, of the Texas Department of Public Safety, confirms Kelsey and Kayla Vines were inside the vehicle. They are the twin daughters of Lubbock-Cooper ISD Deputy Superintendent Thom Vines.

Kelsey was pronounced dead at the scene. Aerocare transported Kayla to a Lubbock hospital. Her condition is not available at this time.

The second vehicle involved was a dump truck. Gonzalez says the 70-year-old driver is in shock, but was not seriously injured.
