Lawsuit Filed Against Highland Medical Center

Lubbock Attorney Tommy Turner filed the suit in a Harris County court against Highland Medical Center and Doctor Ramesh Srungaram. Turner represents the families of Judy Poole, Julienn Scott, Natalie Parsley, and Eva McNew.

McNew died at University Medical Center after she was taken there for apparent complications with stomach stapling surgery. The other three women are still at UMC, also suffering from surgery complications. Doctor Srungaram performed all four surgeries.

The suit alleges the surgeries were performed in a reckless and dangerous manner resulting in the tearing and destruction of the stomach, resulting in severe and debilitating injuries or death.

The plaintiffs are asking for damages, although no amount has been specified.
